The Land of Hipsters

Saturday, Jordan and I went to Williamsburg, the land of Hipsters. It sure is! We got off the subway and saw tons of bikes locked up by the subway and a thrift store. I laughed for 5 minutes.

Jordan managed to fix my computer (there was nothing actually wrong with it I suppose.) and the zipper on my bookbag which prevented us from meeting (okay, stalking) the hot receptionist girl from 30 Rock at Best Buy. I'm so glad my computer works again because my entire music inventory is on there. I can finally update my ipod after like 6 months with some different music. Take Offs and Landings is great, but even I was starting to get burnt out on it. In The Areoplane Over the Sea, however, still awesome.

As Kelly B pointed out, Liz Lemon from 30 Rock is my dream girl. She is right! She's nerdy, wears glasses, works in television production and from Pennslyvania! Of course Liz Lemon is 38, so that's a litte old for me. Maybe like 10 years younger and she'd be perfect. (oh, and real of course)

I guess that's all I have to say for now.

I Promise You I'm Doing The Best I Can.

Dear Internet,

Today is February 18th, 2009. Five years ago today I signed up for my Livejournal account do to the pesterings of Chris Herb, and so I will celebrate this anniversary by ditching my beloved, but mostly defunct LJ for one of these cool Blogspots everyone has. Seems LiveJournal has gone the way of MySpace. Maybe it is time for a big boy blog.

I decided to do this so that I can read other friend's blogs and maybe it will motivate me to write more. 2008 was a bad year for Dustin blogging. And after I got in trouble with the congressman, I tended to make most of my entries Friends Only. Let's try to keep these open to the public.

So much has changed in the past month I can not even comprehend it. I moved from Philly very quickly. I still can't believe I did it. There was still so much left unresolved there. But it was time to go. There are many opportunities for jobs in television production here in The Windy City.

I now reside in Brooklyn. It is nice, but a long subway commute from Manhattan at 3 or 4 in the morning. Not much bike riding going on here, so I guess the 'I Bike NY' shirt will have to stay moth balled up. I have two roommates, Aman and Ekta. My apartment is very close to the subwat.

I have made some great discoveries here, for instance, you can buy beer in grocery and convience stores!! Holy cow! Quite a change for someone who spent the time between ages 10 months and 25 years living in Pennslyvania. I found a Hurricane at the 7-11 for $2.69. Also, there are places called Papya Dog where you can get 2 hot dogs and saurkraut (mmmm) for 3 bucks flat! Oh, and as a New Yorker, I now have oppinions about David Patterson and Kirsten Gillibrand.

On Sunday, Jordan, Kurt and I saw Fan Boys. It was pretty good, lots of Star Wars jokes. My favorite part was Kristen Bell. Oh, and a couple weeks ago Jordan and I were at Best Buy and we're pretty sure we saw the hot receptionist girl from 30 Rock there.

Hmmm. I wonder what I did 5 years ago? Here is my first LJ entry:

"02:34 pm - Yes.
Yesterday Chris Herb bet me $1,000 I wouldn't start a journal. I guess he loses. Yet, somehow, I also lose.

Today I was at the AV office. There was a pen that had 'Do not steal' written on the side. I took it so I could show my friends.

I'm getting a job on campus very soon. I'll be a computer lab assistant. hahaha. Just like back at TVHS. I'll work 2 hours a day and help people with Final Cut Pro. The movie 'Cold Mountain' was edited using Final Cut Pro. Hopefully, Hollywood will begin using it to edit good movies.

Chris Herb better appreciate this."

Ugh, this entry made me think of summer 2004. I didn't like summer 2004.

I guess that's it.
